The MMXIproject is an initiative that acts as a platform for five young designers to present their work in a gallery style environment. The event is organized to express their ideas in pure form, to share ideas and design concepts inspired from experiences acquired locally and internationally.
We come from diverse backgrounds and cultivate different approaches to design but maintain the common thread of respect for the craft.
We create our own standards, exploring the realm between art and fashion.
We explore concepts based on inspirations from our experiences both domestic and international.
We thrive off collaborative efforts and support for one another. We strive to create something that is bigger than the individual, but composed of elements of us all.
We believe in NO RESTRICTIONS

My series of artwork explores the roles of diverse methods of perception. The subject of the 'Hybrid Nomads' project is a study of light and various states of visual illusion by using clothing as the medium to sculpt on the human figure. The garments exemplify a focus on movement that are interchangeable in shape, functionality and fabric construction. contact amabelle.aguiluz@gmail.com |

my most recent body of work explores the concept of TRANSITION
and the hybrid evolutions reflected in nature. it is my translation of biomorphism through knitwear, INSPIRATION stems from my respect and tolerance of irregularity I am commited to the use of sustainable materials; the ORGANIC shapes I create are usually hand-dyed with non-toxic agents, and followed by HUMBLE embellishment such as hand embroidery, felting, and crochet to emphasize the incredible results we can obtain while using alternative methods to create unconventional, ethically responsible clothes/art that are beautiful and FAIR to everyone www.zagb.blogspot.com zagb@msn.com

I believe that people take both
life and design too seriously.
I think we can learn a lot from children, and their capacity to
find pure enjoyment so easily in
life. This is why I design for
grown women who will always
remain children at heart. I
want to reach people who share
my beliefs that clothing should
be an extension of one's
personality, they should attract attention and even
spark conversation.
Fashion needs a sense of humor and whimsy. xo Michelle

There is a lot I want to say to and about my generation. Design is my chosen method of communication. I refuse to give up hope, and be the generation of disappointments, that deconstructs into an economic and environmental wasteland. My art and design reflects the utopia in my mind that i hope to help make reality. |
